Canvas Transition Training for Instructors

Instructional Technologies is offering a series of five workshops to prepare instructors to begin teaching on Canvas in Summer and Fall 2023.

• Workshop 1: Orientation to Canvas for Sakai Users (Required) - pre-req for all other workshops
• Workshop 2: From Sakai Lessons to Canvas Modules and Pages (Required)
• Workshop 3: Understanding Assignments and Grading in Canvas (Required)
• Workshop 4: Using Canvas Quizzes and Discussions (Recommended)
• Workshop 5: What Do I Do with My Migrated Course?

Workshops will be delivered as live, 90-minute webinars on Microsoft Teams. Each workshop will include hands-on homework assignments that instructors must complete on Canvas in order to receive credit for the workshop.

Requirements and sequencing

• Workshops 1, 2 and 3 are required to gain access to your Summer and/or Fall courses on Canvas.
• Workshop 1 is a pre-requisite for all other workshops and must be completed first.
• Workshops 2, 3 and 4 may be taken in any order.
• Workshop 5 should be taken last, after completing the required workshops (1, 2, and 3).

FAQ

Can I watch the webinar recordings instead of attending the live webinars?

• Yes. By late March, we will have a system in place to allow those who want or need to complete the workshops by viewing recorded webinars to do so. Stay tuned!
• I have experience teaching with Canvas -- am I required to complete the training?
• Will this training be offered in Summer 2023?
